Flashback, I Needed the Insight of my Past Self Today!

Be honest, when have you ever been happy to be corrected? Often we are discouraged and we feel rebellious. Yet, the results of correction is well worth the frustration if we learn our lesson. Consider being grateful the next time you are corrected. Choose to have a good attitude from the beginning 🙂 […]

Quit Worrying, Seek God Instead

kaseysjourneyimage

“Kasey, you’re a worrier,” gosh those were tough words for me to hear this week. Instantly I wanted to deny it, but I took a deep breath and admitted that I have been a worrier lately. Life is challenging, with all the stresses around us it’s hard not to slip into the world’s ways of worrying.

Taking a good, honest look at myself and wanting to stop being a worrier has encouraged a sweet experience of trusting Jesus more. Worrying over things, big or small, doesn’t benefit you in the least bit. Jesus knew what He was talking about when He told His followers that worrying doesn’t add to your height… I pray that you all join me in working to seek His kingdom instead of worrying 🙂 We aren’t perfect, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!

Keep Wisdom on the List

image

Is wisdom on your list of needed items? We spend time making to-do lists, grocery lists, gift lists, invitation lists, and so many other lists! I wonder if we spend enough time reading God’s Word and keeping ourselves focused on His list of character traits needed for a successful, righteous life.

Wisdom ought to be high on our list of priorities in life. God is an generous Lord to have made wisdom available to us. You are not left to figure it all out on your own, keep wisdom on your life list, and you’ll be amazed at the results 🙂

God is Sweetly Perfect

Psalm 19.7-11 NKJV

Psalm 19:7-11 NKJV The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.

Have you ever gotten to a point in your life when you feel stuck because you’re doing things your way instead of God’s way? Personally I have done this more times than I can count… Each time that God helps me realize that I’m doing things in my imperfect ways, it is a sweet and humbling experience with Him to recognize that He is perfect, His ways are perfect, and I will never come up with a better way of living than what He has instructed me to do.

My encouragement to you today is to spend time with God, whether your life is going well or it feels like you have hit rock bottom. Recognize that His ways are perfect, be enlightened by Him, know that He loves you and He wants to protect you and guide you.

Praise For His Salvation

I read these verses this morning and it really stuck with me. The whole chapter is really a great read. How many religions give you salvation for free? God is so good, He doesn’t expect anything from us in return for His salvation. Every other religion requires something of you, Jesus did all that is required of all of us.

If you ask me that is proof enough that Christianity is the answer. Jesus paid the whole price for every sin ever committed, and He doesn’t require anything of you when you approach Him for forgiveness.

Praise Him for His good news and salvation each day for the rest of your life 🙂 He is very deserving.

Always True

imageThere are no words nearly as reliable as Scripture. I absolutely love that I can read God’s Word and trust it to be true without a shadow of a doubt.

You know how people say not to trust everything that you read? That never will apply to Scripture, what God has chosen to be in the Bible will always be true regardless of who reads it and when.

When in doubt of what is true, ask the good Lord!

Scripture First, Opinions Later

2 Tim 3.16-17 JKJV.jpg

A discussion I was having with two of my friends earlier today made me think of these verses. The topic is not important, but you should know that we were conversing about an issue that the three of us have a moral opinion on, yet had never specifically looked at what the Bible says towards this topic.

As we were talking we all became very curious about what the Bible actually says, and why Christians came to such a firm standing on the issue. So, I grabbed a tablet and googled what we were discussing. It was neat that us three young adults were willing to consult the Bible to guide our conversation instead of using the Bible to push our opinion.

How often do we form an opinion before consulting God’s Holy Word? Sure, you can have an opinion like your favorite color without scouring the Bible to see if purple is approved 😉 When it comes to moral issues though, we should not make up our own minds without God’s guidance. After all, God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Yes, He did give us freewill and we all have the ability to choose a stance for ourselves, but I believe we should rely on His wisdom and guidance before we make a decision.

Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

These verses have me wondering how many times I use the Scriptures in a twisted way to suit my opinion and/or goals. I know that I certainly can improve on consulting the Bible before I make up my mind on a matter. My hope in sharing these verses and my thoughts on them is that we would all remember how valuable the Bible is, and that we would never neglect its relevance in our lives.

Under His Mighty Hand

1 Peter 5.6-7

Being humble can be very difficult, we often don’t see the benefit to humility.  Modern culture is so focused on praising people’s accomplishments that it becomes easy for us to desire recognition for our accomplishments rather than focusing on doing everything unto His glory.  When we are acknowledged for what we’ve done well pride can easily plant itself in our heart and we forget that without God, we would be nothing.

Personally when I become too proud of myself and my accomplishments I neglect to give my cares to God, I trick myself into believing that I can handle everything on my own.  It’s a dangerous place to be in.  Yet, when I’m choosing to humble myself under His mighty hand, I don’t care if there’s recognition.  Giving all your cares to God frees you so much from the pride we are prone to.

I encourage you all to rest under His hand, stop striving to follow the world’s pattern 🙂 Trust Him, and give Him your cares…
